Role of the Therapist in Symbolic Process

In this course, Dr. Turner explores what she calls witnessing attitude, explaining how the process of symbols is strengthened in proportion to the respectful quietude of the observer. She explores how softening the conscious position and entering into the play space makes the client and therapist more receptive to the powers of the symbol to move the psyche. Dr. Turner explains how the presence of the well-trained, respectful, clear and receptive therapist has an immediate effect on the depth and direction of the client’s Sandplay process.
